Eric G. Postel

Eric G. Postel, a twenty year veteran of private sector work in more than 50 developing countries, founded his international investment banking and consulting company (Pangaea Partners) in 1989.  Pangaea’s charter is to focus exclusively on clients in emerging markets.  Amongst its many successful endeavors are large-scale housing projects in Ghana, Kenya and Zambia.  In Turkey, Pangaea has trained more than 13,000 bank staff in the most current banking practices while in Zambia the firm is the country’s leading stockbroker.  Pangaea’s financial sector development projects on behalf of eight development agencies include de novo creation of stock exchanges and securities regulatory regimes in Africa, transforming operations of two dozen banks in the former Soviet Union with Western banking techniques, and designing or operating lines of credits designed to foster small- and medium-sized enterprises.

During 2001-6, Mr. Postel contributed to a nexus of technology and finance.  At Infigen, the first firm to clone cattle and pigs for pharmaceutical purposes, and TomoTherapy, a now publicly-traded manufacturer of innovative cancer radiation machines, he handled the companies’ finances.  Then, as Director for Venture Investments at CleanTech Partners, he led a series of investments to advance energy-saving commercial technologies.

A Vice President at Citibank in Tokyo and New York during 1983-1989, he completed more than $1.3 billion worth of financings and created innovative and fiscally sound vehicles for countries not having access to the capital markets such as Argentina, Jamaica, Ethiopia, Gabon and Zimbabwe.

Mr. Postel joined the U.S. Navy after graduating from Wesleyan University (BA), serving as an engineering officer and navigator aboard a guided missile destroyer.   Mr. Postel then attended and graduated from the Stanford School of Business (MBA).

Mr. Postel served on the Sub-Saharan African Advisory Committee at the U.S. Eximbank in 1999-2000, the second year as Chairman.  He is an active Board member for multiple United States and overseas profit and non-profit organizations and an author of a number of professional articles on privatization and development finance.
